Water Powered Multifunction Clock

Price: £ 14.99

The Water Powered Multi-function Clock is not only environmentally friendly and energy saving, but it is also innovative, attractive and boasts a range of functions that are initiated by simply rotating the clock through ninety degree turns.

Why we like it:

This clock is great for any employee who is notoriously late, or a student who needs assistance in being up on time – the clock will even tell you how warm to dress!  The Water Powered Multifunction Clock marries the latest in ecological and environmentally friendly design with innovative use of conventional digital technology.  More than that…it’s clever.  This is the only clock that we know of whose range of functions is accessed by turning the clock in ninety degree turns.  Normally placed, the Water Powered Multifunction Clock tells the time, rotate it ninety degrees and it displays the alarm settings, rotate it a further ninety degrees for it to display the count down timer, and once more to displace the temperature.  What impresses us the most however, is the fact that the clock incorporates a revolutionary patented battery powered by portable power technology operated by water, a virtually inexhaustible resource.

How does it work?

To maintain a constant supply of energy simply refill the battery as it evaporates, typically every two to three months.  The water battery has a minimum continuous life of at least two years and replacement batteries are available.  In addition to this, unlike conventional batteries, it can be stored in its dry state indefinitely and can be left to dry out at any time during its life, which will extend its life indefinitely.  The Water Powered Multifunction Clock’s patented technology utilises two electrodes consisting of specially formulated alloys, one positive, and the other negative.  When immersed in water an electrochemical reaction takes place resulting in the production of electrical energy.  As all components of this clock are recyclable, the benefits over traditional batteries are innumerable.

Couldnt believe a clock could run on water, but it does! The special battery was easy to fill and insert back into the clock. The instructions advised that the digital display might take several minutes to appear; mine had not appeared after nearly an hour. However, I put the clock onto a sunny window-ledge and the display came up within a couple of minutes; whether the warmth had anything to do with it, I don't know, but the clock has been running fine ever since. The other filling-hole (water for the rotation-readings) was fiddly to get water into, but I managed it with a plastic pipette taken from a box of goldfish water-treatment. The ideal pipette would be a very slender glass one. Apart from that I am pleased with the clock.
