Recycled glassware from Mexico
On the outskirts of Guadalajara, Mexico, thousands of old glass fizzy drinks bottles are collected by local people who then sell them to the glass workshops.
In the workshops the bottles are smashed into tiny pieces before being melted in the glass furnace at very high temperatures. Each piece is then individually hand-blown and the end result is beautiful heavy duty glassware. .
If you pick up one of these glasses they feel quite different from factory manufactured glass. For one, they are heavier and often contain small air bubbles, making each piece unique.
Why we like them
These rustic wine glasses make an attractive addition to your dinner table. The glasses are hand blown and made from recycled fizzy drinks bottle. The glass bottles are collected from the street and sold to the workshop where they are transformed into something new.
The design features a blue swirl pattern.
